The character

SoHo is fashionable and design-led; Tribeca is quieter, more residential, and famously family-friendly. Both are known for dramatic loft spaces in landmark buildings.

Housing stock

Condo loft conversions and cast-iron buildings lead here, with high ceilings and open floor plans, at the luxury end of the market. Co-ops exist but condos are the story.

Getting around

The A, C, and E, the 1, and the N, R, Q, and W put both neighborhoods within easy reach of the rest of the city.

Who it suits, and the tradeoffs

Ideal for luxury buyers who want loft space, and for families drawn to Tribeca in particular. The tradeoffs are among the highest prices in the city and, in SoHo, weekend crowds.
